THE LNG-POWERED GENERATION VESSELS
A PIONEERING TECHNOLOGY AIMED AT PRESERVING AIR QUALITY AND ACCELERATING THE ENERGY TRANSITION
FLAGSHIP OF A SERIES OF 9 GIANT CONTAINERSHIPS POWERED BY LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS

ITS DIMENSIONS
Longer than 4 football fields and longer than the Eiffel Tour is tall, this giant of the seas measures 400 meters in length, and 61 meters in width. With its 12 levels of containers stacked on the deck, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE is as high as a 26-story building.

A FUTURISTIC DESIGN
The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE’s hull is like no other. Its green constellation-infused livery underlines its natural gas-powered propulsion and evokes its many environmental benefits.
ITS INNOVATIONS
The result of 7 years of research and development, the CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE and its sisterships truly are technology-packed vessels: a futuristic profile, an innovative means of propulsion… Everything has been optimized in order to reduce their environmental footprint.
ITS CONSTRUCTION
The assembling of the vessel’s hull, the construction of the cathedral tank, the sea trials… Relive the landmark moments of its 26 months construction through a series of images.

ITS IDENTITY
The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE is an exceptional vessel. It is the world’s first vessel of its size to be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, an environmentally friendly energy of the future, and the first in a series of 9 sisterships, who will bear the names of monuments and emblematic places in Paris.

EXPLORERS OF THE SEAS
« The CMA CGM JACQUES SAADE and its 8 sisterships symbolize our commitment to our planet’s well-being. They are equipped with the latest technologies and are the result of seven years of research and development. This series of vessels preserve air quality, contribute to tackling global warming and enable a significant reduction in the environmental footprint of transported goods. It is a major milestone we have just reached, and we want go even further to build a more ecofriendly transport environment. »
Rodolphe SAADÉ, CMA CGM Group’s Chairman and CEO
PRESERVING AIR QUALITY
Air quality is a major public health concern.
LNG propulsion enables the cutting of sulfur oxides emissions by 99%, Particulate Matter emissions by 91%, and of nitrogen oxide emissions by 92%, going well beyond the requirements of existing international regulations.

BATTLING GLOBAL WARMING
Liquefied Natural Gas is an energy of the future for the protection of environment.
LNG enables a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of up to 20% compared to fuel motorization.

THE CHOICE OF LNG
LNG applied to the maritime sector is a real technology revolution: a major innovation that will change the world of transport.
Today, it is the best available technology to preserve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also offers an initial reponse to the battle against global warming. One of the first steps towards achieving the Group’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
